Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

Librax and bentyl are not medications to treat gastritis.
Dexilant is the one to treat gastritis.
So you can take dexilant for gastritis.

If the other two have been prescribed for some other condition, you can take them with dexilant and it is safe.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr R.K, what does Librax and Bentyl treat? Also is Bentyl the same as Hyoscyamine? Other than Dexilant or Nexium, what would you prescribe to treat Gastritis pain?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me with more questions.

Bentyl is dicyclomine. It is similar to hyoscyamine but not the same. It is used to treat colicky abdominal pain.

Librax contains chlordiazepoxide and clinidium. Chlordiazepoxide has antianxiety action and clinidium has antispasmodic and antisecretory action. This is mainly used to treat irritable bowel syndrome.
Though I have mentioned in my previous post that librax is not used to treat gastritis, I would like to add sometimes it is used as an adjuvant drug in the treatment of peptic ulcer and gastritis because of its antisecretory effect.

I hope that answers your question.

In early January through endoscopy they found Mild Gastritis, but could not find the cause. A biopsy revealed no H pylori. I have had abdominal ultrasound, upper Barium, CT scan, MRI, MRCP, Hida scan, baxk X rays, and recently another upper barium with follow through. Numerous blood exams and many doctors. I have developed other symptoms and my PCP feels they are because of the process and not anything else. My anxiety is extremely high and frankly, I can't take it anymore. Therefore, is the Librax a good thing to take in my condition, and what is better Dexilant or Nexium?

I know that Librax can relax and calm the digestive area, and as a result does it cause the urge to urinate increase?

Answered by Dr. Dr.P.Ratnakar Kini (22 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
No urge to urinate is not a side effect of librax.
Since you are a 67 year old male, prostate enlargement and urinary tract infection could be the probable cause.
You can get an ultrasound scan done to look for prostate enlargement and an urinalysis done to rule out urinary tract infection.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr.R.K
