How Does Hyoscyamine Help To Cure Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
I have been diagnosed with irritable bowl syndrome. I would like to know how this medication works with this diagnosis. The medication hyoscyamine has been prescribed for me. I don t have constipation or diarrhea. Nor do I very little gas, that cause me to be uncomfortable. At times I have pain when I first get up in the morning. I m sure you must need much more information than I have provided.

You seems to suffer from -IBS with morning pains with pressure.
IBS is the functional disease, with bowel movements being controled in brain,with inconsistent bowel behaviour,where constipation and diarrhea are unpredictable responses every day,accompanied by disturbed sleep,change of moods,changing with anxiety,depression.This mostly varies with personal responsiveness of the Enteric Nervous System(ENS) made up of Myenteric (aurebachs' plexus) and of Submucous (or Meissner's plexus).
The commensals and pathologic gut microbeals change responses of ENS, relating to the dysbiosis caused from the dietary style and food and fluid habits ,which change with the seasonal and temperature changes in the body.
So is the way in which hyosciamine-which acts on the Afferrent and motor ACH controlled synaptic responses , by inhibiting the increased irritability, from the increases hypersensitivity of the ENS , may be from pathologic predominance of the gut microbials.
Pro-inflammatory cytokines created by pathologic barrier break up of the bowel mucosa and the submucosal defense mechanism,would decide the irritability of the Bowel,causing response of the bowel movment by Constipation and diarrhoea, in almost every case.The built, hormonal state of the body, seasonal variations,are among the important variables of cure caused by the hyosciamine in IBS.Sometimes this does not work, when the neurological state could be depressed /or hypersensitized beyond the drug action.
This is how the limitation of the hyosciamine cure works with in the various limitations of the body and microbiological impact on the Myentric and submucous plexuses of the ENS(Enteric Nervous System) -systems which is second biggest nervous system.

Well, IBS is the most common functional bowel disease. Hyoscamine is an antispasmodic drug which relieves the pain that you are having. It is one of the common and most useful drug for IBS patients. You can take the medication as prescibed by your physician and he will stop it once your symptoms are controlled. It does not have any major side effects.
