Posted on Wed, 5 Nov 2014
Question: Could you tell me how lanoxin and pradaxa interact with each other. Can they be used at the same time. I think pradaxa is used for Afib (paroxysmal) and laxoxin is used for (lone Afib). Can they be used at the same time?

Brief Answer:
unlikely to interact

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

Lanoxin is used for heart failure and to increase power of heart and atrial fibrillation(increased heart beat) and paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnoea.

Pradaxa is used to reduce the risk of stroke or thrombosis in the body . It basically reduce blood clotting.

These both doesn't interact with each other. You may develop there side effects independently. Both may be taken together.

Keep a watch on serious side effects like bleeding from anywhere or giddiness, fluctuations in heart rates and contact your doctor in such conditions. Take both tablets daily at same time roughly and if missed don't take double dose.

Hope I have answered your query. If any further queries are there I would love to help.

What if these medications don't work for irregular afib and the lone afib. What other medications would work for both and beable to be taken together at the same time.
Thank you for your answer to the firstquestion, it was
a great help. One more question, if these medications don't work. Is there any other procedures available for both afibs.

Brief Answer:
the medication prescribed are good combination

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,

The combination of pradaxa and lanoxin is efficient for both the Atrial fibrillation. They may be taken safely together.

If these drugs doesn't work then other options are amidarone/diltiazem/metoprolol. You need to take drug combination one to reduce heart rate and one anticoagulant.

If drug therapy doesn't work then surgical options are cardioversion, radio frequency ablation .

Cardioversion useful when done within 7 days of onset. Otherwise radio frequency ablation needed. If this fails then permanent is complete ablation of AV node and permanent pacemaker. You may discuss with your doctor .

Hope I have answered your query. If any further queries are there I would love to help.
