Can HSV-1 Be Transmitted Through Kissing On Skin?
Brief Answer:
No risk of Hsv transmission
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern.
There is no risk of Hsv 1 transmission to the child through intact skin of hand and also Hsv transmission does not happen indirectly through hands or for that matter through shared towels, water bottles, glasses etc. The only way Hsv is transmitted is through direct contact i.e kissing or oral sex.
Regards

Hello dr,
I was actually concerned for my pregnant sister whom kissed the same hand five seconds after I did. I'm afraid that when I missed my child's hand if there was any saliva in it and than my pregnant sister kissed her hand 5 seconds later
I apologize perhaps my question was not clear. I was more afraid of cross contamination. I have been exposed to hsv1 in past never had a cold sore.
I kissed my child's hand and five seconds later my very pregnant sister kisses her hand too that I had just kissed. Was worried about cross contamination. For example if there was saliva on my child's hand after I kissed it. Than my sister kissed same hand with her mouth five seconds later. Is my sister at risk? By the way I never had cold sore was just told years ago that I was exposed to hsv1. Hope this question is clearer. Thanks again

Brief Answer:
I don't think there is anything to worry.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
It is a negligible risk because first of all you did 'nt had any active cold sore at the moment which makes the chances negligible.
Secondly, I don't think there would have been any exchange of saliva through this mode.
