Question: I have been prescribed cremalex tab 10 mg (sodium picosuphate) as laxative to clear my motion but can I take it daily ? I have read that It gives very fast effect, earlier I was taking lactihep sy (lactitol monohydrate 66.67%) but after some time I was passing stool 4 times and due that my b p was effected. in this case should I take cremalex tab. I am at age of 80 and I do not want any other problem or you can suggest any light laxative so that there is clearance, I am patient of colitis and I b s

Cremalax (sodium picosulphate) is a purgative which increases the urge to pass stool. Although it can be taken on daily basis, I would not prefer it. Rather, I would insist you to take stool softeners like Softovac or fiber supplements like Isabgol (Psyllium husk) or Senna on daily basis. These help in forming the bulk of the stool which is more essential.
Alongside it is very important to walk regularly in the morning (or may be in the afternoon). This helps in regularizing the bowel movements and is therefore contributory.
The problem with lactihep syrup (lactitol monohydrate) can be managed by reducing the dose suitably as needed.
