Are There Any Interactions Between Lisinopril And Arginine?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Nov 2015
Question: My wife takes blood pressure medicine and wants to take a popular over the counter female sexual enhancement supplement called "Pandora". Her blood pressure medicine is Lisinopril-HCTZ 10/12.5 MG tablets. The ingredients in the Female enhancement supplement is: arginine, citruline, Epimedium Extract, Pine Bark Extract, N-Acetyl, Tyrosine, Sceletium Tortuosium, Long XXXXXXX Root(Tongkat Ali), Rutaecarpine.- 825mg per serving. My ultimate question is can she take this supplement while taking her blood pressure meds or should she back off a few days then take the female enhancement? The female enhancement is only taken when before any sexual activity. Not on a daily basis.

Brief Answer:
no known interactions

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Out of the ingredients mentioned, the arginine and tyrosine are more widely known.
There are no known interactions between arginine, tyrosine and lisinopril/hctz.

Citrulline is another amino acid, like the arginine and tyrosine. It is actually converted to arginine in the body. At the moment there are no known interactions.

Scetletium can increase levels of a chemical called serotonin which plays a part in mood. It is not known to interact with this medication at this point.
In theory, based on how it works, it may interact with some other medications.

The epimedium may cause a decrease in blood pressure in some persons to it is possible that this may cause an added decrease in her blood pressure but this is the only known interaction at this point

Pine bark extract , rutacarpine and long XXXXXXX root are not known to interact with this med but can with others.

Summary: there are no known interactions at this point, so she can consider using

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
