Are There Any OTC Supplements To Hydrate Skin?

default
Posted on Fri, 28 Aug 2015
Question: Are there any supplements that are OTC that can be taken orally to better hydrate skin save a skin multi? Herbs, ceramides, amino acids, omega acids, plant extracts etc?

I am afflicted with a plethora of skin issues including acne, seborrhoeic dermatitis, hyperhidrosis, and excessively dry skin...

Also, other than cyproheptadine, are there any oral rx meds. that can treat hyperhidrosis?

Brief Answer:
Taking vitamin E and C will be helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Taking vitamin E and vitamin C is good for hydrating skin. Taking potassium rich fruits like bananas is good also. Taking phytoceramide supplements is helpful also.

Anticholinergic medications like propanthaline bromide is good for hyperhydrosis. Check your thyroid profile to rule out hyperthyroidism which also gives hyperhydrosis and dry skin.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if any thing not clear.
Thanks.

Thanks so much! I was aware of anticholinergics treating hyperhidrosis but have never heard of propantheline HBr...I'm a bit embarrassed being a pharm. student; yet am humbled, too and all the more knowledgeable. I appreciate the input.
