Are Blood Clots During Menstruation A Cause For Concern?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Mar 2016
Question: I am not going n the pill. My menstrual cycle started yesterday morning. Today I got out of bed and found a large blood clot about 10 cm. I have had 3 or 4 since come out but not as large. I am currently travelling with work and want to know whether I need to see a doctor now or whether I can wait until I return home in 4 days.

Brief Answer:
Do you have any severe pains?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this blood clot and all the inconveniences this must have caused you. If you do not have any sever pains, there is no reason to get worried. Treat as normal menses and all will be okay. If you have pains which are unlike before, only then will I recommend that you see a doctor. However, there is no immediate threat to health and you shouldn't take aggressive measures at this time which are totally not needed. Staying for another 4days without any other symptoms is totally safe.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
