Are Acute Confusion And Memory Issues Treatable Through Medical Intervention?

default
Posted on Thu, 20 Jan 2022
Question: I woke up in my spare bedroom about a hour ago and I can't really remember much about lying down in there or why. I cannot remember much about what I did earlier today. Have a slight soreness and headache on the right side of my head above my ear. Am very shakey and scared. Have I had a mini-stroke? What should I do? Could remember my age. Subtracted the year I was born from 2012, to get 67. Is this 2012? Doesn't seem right. Just looked at my calendar and found it is 2018 so I am 72. What should I do? I am 30 miles from a hospital and I live alone. Should I go to the hospital emergancy room?

Brief Answer:
Get urgently evaluated by a doctor in ER

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

You are having acute confusion and memory issues.
At this age ,stroke is a possibility.
Other possibilities may be metabolic abnormalities.
Get urgently evaluated in an emergency room.
Blood investigations like blood sugar, thyroid profile, serum sodium, renal and liver function tests are required.
Brain imaging may be required too.
