Question: I developed a severe cough last night and I need to know if I can that cough medicine, that contains dextromethorphan HBr 30mg and doxylamine succinate 12.5mg,

Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant and Doxylamine is an antihistamine or antiallergic medication. This combination can be used to suppress sudden severe bouts of cough or dry cough mostly thought to be occurring due to allergic conditions. You have provided a very short history, but if there is not too much mucous with cough or it is not a very chronic cough you are suffering from, you can take this medicine and it should be helpful. This combination is less effective in cough with mucous production and for that, mucolytics like ambroxol or guaifenesin have to be used.
