Hi,

My spouse has got fever during 2012 september which was last for about 1.5 months, we were taken different test, and the doctor finally suggested to take ESR and XXXXXXX test.

The ESR count was high and XXXXXXX was positive, finally 19-November-2013 she got tremendous gidiness and doctor advised to XXXXXXX rhemetologiest, but she was completely down and admitted in the emergency at appollo chennai.

But unfortunately docor didnt see our XXXXXXX and ESR and again asked to take all reports.

But the same day night 19-Nov-12, she got seizure, and took MRI, observed some particles in the brain, and done angio to test the vesseles of the brain, fortunately none of the vessels are defected.

Now she is taking HCQS, omnocrotil (7.5 mgs) , and doctor advised not to go in the direct sunlight.

She is suffering not able to go to work and not able to enjoy the day completely, also suffering in hair loss, but good news her weight is gaining progresseively.

How long she need to take tablet and when can we expect the same to be cured

Dear XXXXXXX ,

Looking into the history you gave there is a high possibilty of SLE . What ever symptoms you have mentioned are consistent with this disease .

But diagnosis of SLE cannot be made just on the basis of XXXXXXX other tests are also necessary for confirmation like anti dsDNA , anti Sm antibody etc.

The treatment of SLE depends on the organs involved and symptoms present . It depends on individual and one blanket treatment is not there.

It is a disease which can be controlled but cannot be cured and generally the treatment is lifelong . You have been started on right treatment and your wife needs to avoid the direct sunlight and use sunscreen lotion of spf at least 40 while going out as uv rays may lead to flare of disease.

I advise you to be in touch with your treating doctor and follow his advise completely.

Take care.

Dr Shruti
