wake up with it. startle responses cause seizure like activity as well as the dysphasia. no food allergies that I know of. Pain sometimes in the back of my head travels through ear and to top of my head. Loud noises. light in my right eye. Most times no pain. The headache that I had for nearly a year is gone. I take Nifedipine for the raynauds(internist). Quetiapine for sleep(psychiatrist) Tylenol 3 for headaches, ear pain and when my feet hurt so bad I cant walk. Ativan for the stress and seizure like activity(they want me to calm down) I am a recluse as when you cant talk people do not understand what you want including doctors and they either do not want to take the time or it is out of their realm of expertise. The seizure like activity is almost instant with light in my eye.(got prescription tranistions for this but no help on a bright XXXXXXX day) ear pain(losin my hearing but ear specialist says out of his area.) Audiologist reccommended an ear neurologist because of the reactions to the PITCH of noises.(sirens, deisel trucks, loud speaker in stores etc.) The staggering comes from any more than 10 minutes exposed to any of this. My daughter is worried that I will stagger into the street. I look like I am drunk but I am not. Energy level so so. headaches make me vomit profusely. Ask any question I may be able to answer Today as yesterday still unable to talk. This could last from a couple days to months. alcohol makes me sick for weeks....no pop....two cups coffee a day. Acidic foods cause me to vomit acid. I try to avoid red meat...I eat fish, salad, cheese, eggs, chicken, potatoes. Make my own soups and stews. My diet is limited because I do not digest it or I vomit it. Nothing causes the dysphasia. Headaches I can tell the difference between my migraines and pain in my head. Migraines come with aura...it looks like its raining and its not or there are fairy lights and sparkles in the air. I do not believe it is psychiatric. My doctor says no illness causes all these symptoms and I told him there may be more than one thing wrong or something set something else off. I had severe head trauma as a child on several occassions semi consciousness. I had to learn how to talk in my teens as my verbal skills were limited. I also had three episodes where I was just doing something and my face went numb and speech was slurred, disorientated. CT scans revealed nothing significant enough to cause what I am experencing. EEG showed no seizures. The strobe light test lasted almost a year with flashes appearing in my sleep and seizure like activity. Thats why they put me on the quetiapine. The weird thing is I can feel it when it comes on. I am unable to prevent it. I do not think about anything in specific. I saw a neurologist at the reccomendation of my internist. He dismissed it as neurological even though I could not talk and was staggering in his office. He did the basic touch your nose etc test and said I did not need to see him again. I waited two years to see him and I did tell him what the reply was on a doctor site. He was outraged. Basically told me that these sites are nonsense. and to stick with my psychiatrist. I do have problems with PTSD I will conceed to this, always have, and it has always been under control. This is totally different and does concern me the older I get. Seems like every bout of this dysphasia lasts a bit longer. I have grandkids that do not understand what happened to gramma. My daughter is concerned because this lasted too long. Paper and pen. On a side note when this got set off the third time I could not make sentences or even write them out correctly. The words were short briefly no more than six letters long, sometimes backwards and I was reciting my abcs forwards and backwards. This was the time I saw a psychiatrist to humor my family doctor. He has no explanation for the cause of my speech problems. I see him more for other stuff and pen and paper makes it a long process.

Brief Answer: Suggest MRI Detailed Answer: Hi there I am really sorry for the delay I think the aphasia is a problem you have Now in this you have said the CT was relatively normal I am assuming you have speech problem How about the reading and the writing? Writing I read you could do a bit. How about hearing? and reading? I would suggest getting an MRI brain You see CT scan can miss a lot of parts. So it is always better to check out on MRI Suggest you have it tested and let us know Best of luck Dr Mittal

My eyesight has changed dramatically in the past two years. Very light sensitive in my right eye. My right ear is very sensitive to Pitch noises. Anything over a decibal of 6. I am slow to respond because I have been unable to stand for long periods of time without falling down. I am staggering and falling all over. I was safer in bed. I still can't talk. My head pain starting again so take stuff to sleep. I have a copy of the latest hearing test and the ct scan report.
