Hi, hypertension is 2-3 times more frequent in patients with diabetes. In diabetes type 1, hypertension usually appears many years after the onset of diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, hypertension may exist at the time diabetes gets diagnosed and may actually exist for years before the diagnosis.
