Hi, If this pain has started spontaneously without warning and there is some swelling, I suggest you see a doctor to exclude a DVT. If the pain followed exercise then it may be a pulled muscle. In this case, elevate your leg and apply ice 4 times a day. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger

doctor1 MD

That is a possibility, there would be alot of reddness and swelling throughout the leg and you would be having a fever as well. If these symptoms are true, then you should get yourself to the doctor for a few doses of IV antibiotics. That would be much safer than waiting or taking oral antibiotics.

HI. Reactionary redness will be there . I hope what I have advised should be sufficient. Give her an antibiotics are usually not needed. Please follow the instructions . Visit the Doctor if there is fever , increase in pain or active pus.
