Why Do My Hips Hurt When I Lie In A Certain Position?

My left hip has developed this pain the last few days. It is intense, and hurts when I walk or stand. I am 75 years old, and live an active life. Why does my hip hurt especially at night when I lie a certain way? I have been taking Tylenol every 6 hours to relieve the intense pain.

Hi,

Hip pain could be due to posture, it can be muscular spasm, wrong posture during sitting and sleep can cause the nerve compression and it may be the reason for hip pain, second it can be inflammatory condition of hip joint, analgesic is the best drug for pain, if the pain persist then MRI of hip is advisable to know the underlying causes, age may be another cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Akhtar Husain
