Why Do I See A Black Spot In My Vision?

I recently got hit in my eye by a small wood chip, or grain of sand. I have noticed since then a small black speck in my vision, slightly up and right of where i look. I cant see anything in my eye, and there is no irritation. Its been around ten days with no change.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Any kind of trauma can damage the retina and cause a hole or tear in it and that can present as a black spot in vision. I would advise you to get a thorough retina check up done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
