What To Do If Having Severe Abdominal Pain After Swallowing Barium?
My sister had barium on monday and has been in the hospital for two days due to severe abdominal pain. I am wondering if the barium gets very hard after a certain time and has to be cut out or is there a way to break up the barium and help it come out?

it is one of the side effect of barium intake that it sometimes causes abdominal pain..all you have to do is to
1) take plenty of fluids
2) take some fiber or bulky food
3) take anti spasmodic medication like tab no spa
4) take tab mot ilium (bowel moment regulating drug)
as you mentioned,it does not need to be cut or broken down
