Hi. I just want to know why I'm not getting sleep in the night, I've been struggling to get a sleep in the night since past 6 years, And I don't know why I have to work hard in the night to get a sleep. I would be greatetful to you Doctor if you could tell me what's going on with me. Thanks. Kind regards. Syed.

Hi.

I had gone through your query.

It is important to classify sleep problem whether it is primary or secondary.

Secondary insomnia is associated with psychological disturbances or illness. Treatment of psychological illness will help to restore sleep.Go for psychological screening because psychological stress also can lead to sleep problem.so treatment of it will resolve it.

Certain routines and lifestyle modification will help you like

Fix sleep schedule and stick on it

No day time sleep

Exercise that makes you fatigue

Stress free activities and meditations
Avoid alcohol and smoking

Avoid heavy meal in dinner

Avoid tea cofffee soft drink at night

Use bed when you feel sleepy
Read upto when you will sleepy

No talking or use mobile in bed
Calm and cool bed room

All of this will help you to restore good sleep.

Medicines like benodiazapine or zolpidame can be useful but take advise from your doctor before taking any medicines.

Consult psychiatrist and get help.

Thank you.
Get well soon.
