What Is The Remedy For The Painful Lump On The Back Of The Leg?
I have a painful lump on the back of my right leg. I just noticed it this morning. I have not had an injury, however I did walk up a bit of a steep hill last night. It is lower, about 2 inches above the ankle. I can see it on the outside as well. It is slightly pink. It is more prominent when I flex my foot.
Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
With the history of climbing of a steep hill, possibly you have ruptured/sprained your muscle, and this is causing a painful lump in your leg. If I were your doctor, I would give ice compress followed by a pressure bandage/stocking over the lump, advise you to give some rest to your leg and keep it elevated. Apart from it I would also prescribe an anti inflammatory drug for you along with a proton pump inhibitor. Small sprains with hematoma would gradually resolve in 10-14 days. In case it persists or increases, you have to get it reviewed by your family physician.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts. Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
