What Is The Permanent Solution For Night Blindness?

hi, my jiju is suffering from nigh blindness from his very young age, he has been using optical but it doesn t help him his age is arround 40 he is working abroad he has to stay alone there we all are very warry about him, is any proper or permenent solution for this please help. mrs sameer

Hello Mrs.Sameer,

Sorry to kow about his problem but night lindness could be due to retinitis pigmentosa(RP) or Vitamin A deficiency in childhood or some other congenital problem like rod dystrophy. Unfortunately the above do not have any cure as such and one has to adapt to the night blindness. Low visual aids do help if the central vision also continues to reduce. If the day vision with glasses is good, 20/20 in both eyes, then there is o need of any other treatment such as low visual aids.
