What Does Swelling In The Legs While On Blood Pressure Medication Indicate?
I am 66 year old female been in good health for many years. I have been on blood pressure medicine since 2008 I had a stroke but recovered 100%. Early last winter I felt like my legs were swollen maybe a heavy feeling that often felt like my balance was off. Went to family physician and he said a side effect of my Amlodipine10mg is what I was experiencing so he cut dose in half but would take awhile for change in dosage to be effective. It seems to have helped from knee up but no difference from knee down. Its almost consistent the feeling of weights on my legs. Is it still a side effect of medicine? YYYY@YYYY

What Does Swelling In The Legs While On Blood Pressure Medication Indicate?
Hello, Yes, swelling in the legs is from Amlodipine drug’s side effect. From what you are writing, I understand that that s a problem for you. You can go to your doctor and he can change Amlodipine with another medicine, like Lercanidipine drug or something else that has less side effects. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Anila Skenderi
