What Does Mucus Formation In Eyes With No Itching Mean?

Hi Doctor,
I have problem with left eye, mucus formation continuously from the left eye only. No pain, no itching, vision is ok after consulting ophthalmologist, they checked the eye swab and found normal. They ask me to use exocin drops 4 times a day, but not completely cured. I am suffering for the last 4 months with this eye problem. any one can help me?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having mucus formation in eyes without itching. The mucus secreting glands are found in the conjunctival mucosa and in the lacrimal sac mucosa. Hence the source of mucus formation is either conjunctivitis or dacryocystitis which is inflammation of lacrimal sac.
Since you are having these symptoms fro the last 4 months the use of antibiotics like exocin is justified to eliminate the source of infection.
Hence do continue the exocin eye drops as advised by your doctor.
