What Does A Burning Sensation On The Upper Body Indicate?

My husband is 47 years old with a history of GERD. He has been experiencing a burning sensation in his upper body, (face, ears, chest and arms). He says he feels like his skin is on fire. His skin is not hot to the touch, he has no fever, he is not sweating, he is not clammy, he is not nauseous and has no pain. What can this sensation be?

It might be due to the neuropathic cause and a detailed evaluation is required.
