What Do Foul Smelling And Frothy Urination Indicate?
My urine used to be clear. I had a UTI in Nov and ever since, my urine has a terrible odor and is bubbly/frothy. I have no other symptoms except for mild fatigue/decreased stamina. My urine showed no infection or protein a few weeks ago. I know I am not dehydrated (I drink lots of water) & my diet has not changed... I am a healthy weight 130lbs at 5 5, 45 years old. What else could it be?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There are many causes for abnormal urine odor. For this, you need to do a clinical assessment with a few investigations such as Urine analysis, culture, and ultrasound of the abdomen to rule out infection of the bladder and the urinary system.
You need to drink plenty of water everyday i.e. 2-3 liters per day, as dehydration can result in abnormal odor. Another possibility is diabetes and high blood sugar.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Abed Tahrawi
