My child keeps widening her eyes for no apparent reason, then sometimes she moves the eye ball left to right quite quickly. When I ask her to stop doing this she days she isn t doing it, it s as though she s unaware of these eye movements which are becoming more frequent and more noticeable and not only by myself but other people.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would advise you to get a refraction and a retina check up. In refractive errors and also in retinal diseases the first symptom could be abnormal movement of the eyes. But I cannot pin point the diagnosis without an examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
