If you are planning to diet, make sure you do not suffer from nutrient deficiencies which are very likely if you do not eat a well-balanced diet. Have a low fat but fibre rich diet which will help you to cut down on calories and also keep you full for a long time without being hungry.
You can take boiled eggwhites along with chapati for dinner as they provide good quality
proteins but avoid yolk (due to its fat content) and avoid applying ghee, butter or oil to chapatis.
Include some vegetables in your meals also to ensure you get your
vitamins and minerals.
Include low fat milk/curd and cheese as they are important sources of calcium in our diet.
Include whole grain cereals like whole wheat products, bran containing foods, oats and brown rice instead of refined carbohydrates like white polished rice, white flour or maida products.
Have plenty of vegetables as raw salads, whole fruits instead of juices, sprouts and buttermilk as snacks in between meals.
Control portion size of your meals and have several small meals instead of 3 large meals as it helps to burn calories efficiently.
Do not stay hungry or skip meals as you will tend to eat more in the next meal.
Avoid energy dense foods which are low in nutrients like fried foods, savouries, sweets, junk foods.
You can have chicken and fish. Choose lean meat and avoid rich and oily curries.
