What Causes White Spots And Black Lines In Vision?

Ok, I have already been to a GP and their response was "nothing to worry about", but I dont believe them at all! So, here goes: I have had for approx 5 or 6 years now, an issue with my eyes. When I look at a plain background, like the sky, I can see hundreds of tiny white dots all over my eyes. There looks like a pattern, they flash and move in the same place. Also, I have black lines that move when I move my eyes back and forth, when I concentrate on these, they look like black veins with a white glow around them, I am quite worried. Please advise.
