What Causes Urinary Retention Along With Chronic Cough?
My 86 year old mother has the flu and is taking z-PAC as of today. But now tells me she is having difficulty voiding bladder when earlier she was incontinent when in the midst of bad coughing spells. She does not have the burning usually associated with urinary tract infection. I have never heard of difficulty voiding as a symptom of flu so am concerned
A chronic cough relates to allergy, recurrent infection, low immunity of lungs or other reasons. Urinary retention may be from a side effect of z-pack, bladder prolapse or others. A detailed case evaluation with necessary work up in form of x-ray chest and ultrasound of the abdomen, pelvis with uroflowmetry is mandatory.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
