What Causes The Shrinking Of Connective Tissues In The Leg In The Elderly?

I feel like the connective tissue in my legs are shrinking. I try to sleep with my legs straight, but when I get up in the morning they are too tight to allow me to walk normally until I get them stretched out. I have to do stretches 2 or more times a day for the back of my legs. It is painful to walk more than a block or two. I am 67 yo and have been dealing with this for a year.

Elasticity of muscles and connective tissues are reduced due to ageing. lack of adequate physical activity and exercise is s contributory factor for this rigidity. Regular physical exercise would be beneficial. consult a physical therapist for further management.
