What Causes The Eyes To Be Swollen Shut With Liquid Discharge?

Hi, I woke around 12am this morning and my eye was swollen shut and it was hurting and stuff was leaking out of it. when i woke up this morning i could barely open it so i washed my face with warm water and that didn't help. I took a shower and washed my face with dove soap like i always do morning and nite now my eyelid is still swollen the bottom half is swollen a little and it hurts to leave it open for awhile and it hurts to blink. My eye is also red especially on the bottom what can i do to make it better. Is it a viral infection, should i go to the doc, or is there over the counter medicine.

you should go to eye doctor.for proper diagnosis. viral infection will have anesthetic effect over cornea. I in your case it appears to be allergic conjunctivitis. take oral levocetrizine tablet5mg daily.apply cromal eye drop 3times daily. try to identify the allergen and try to avoid it. avoid cosmetic, watch for food stuff, pet in house
