What Causes Stress And Headache?

Recently in the past couple months I ve had extreme anxiety. I had chest pain at first and was convinced I had heart disease and went to the doctor and he said I was fine. About a week later the pain went away. But now whenever I get stressed out I get a headache that feels very pressurizing on my eyes and I get dizzy and feel like I m falling. Any idea if my anxiety has anything to do with it? I ve also had a swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck for about a month and a half, doctor said don t worry. Ideas?

Hello dear,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have made the following clinical explanation-
In the background history of severe anxiety, the most likely diagnosis of your headache is Tension type headache(TTH).Severe anxiety and TTH frequently go hand in hand. Severe anxiety can manifest with chest pains, palpitations and headache.Pressure around the eyes, headache and dizziness is common to occur in TTH.Alternatively,Migraine can also have similar complaints and stress can act as a trigger factor for it.However, there are some other typical features of migraine-
)nausea
2)Photophobia and phonophobia(headache worsens on exposure to bright light and sound)
3)Visual aura
If these features are present in you, migraine can also be a possibility.
Swollen lymph node is unrelated. If it is less than 1.5 cm in size,it is not significant. Please get it examined by a physician.
Please start doing mental relaxation exercises/Yoga/Pranayama and take low dose amitriptyline under a physician's guidance.I hope that your symptoms will improve.Hope it helps.
