What Causes Stomach Pain, Diarrhea And Dark Brown Vomit?

My father is 80 and has severe stomach pains. Diarrhea this morning and has been throwing up a few times and the vomit is dark brown but he had not had anything to eat. He doesn t have a fever. My Mom will not take him to the hospital. I don t know if I should call for an ambulance or if it is a viral. What do I do?

I admire your positive outlook and congratulate you for the attitude.

Now I guess your father's main problem is stomach pain,Diarrhea and vomiting which is brown in color. There are many pathological causes responsible for it.

However let me give my opinion here.

[ According to me he should be admitted at hospital right now because he needs IV fluid and at home by managing him in [ORS] is not sufficient as he is 80 years age.Treatment should be aimed at restoring body fluid first and treatment will be given for gastroenteritis.And if choice of medications comes,in my opinion ( Ceftriaxone-IV, oral probiotics,omeprazole plus domperidone for vomiting)etc ] .
For this you need expert's guidance by your local gastroenterologist,
