What Causes Severe Redness In The Eyes?

I have had redness, bloodshot eye in my right eye, outside corner, for several weeks now. I have no pain or other symptoms. However, it does not seem to be going away. I thought it might be related to the bad cold I had for several weeks. But I am feeling much better in regards to that but my eye is not clearing up.
