What Causes Severe Pain In Hip And Groin Area?

This past year, my work demanded that I sit a lot and i was very sedentary. I am a very active person and I walk a lot and stay in motion and work out regularly. this was different for me. I am a pianist and I also spend a lot of time at the computer so sitting is part of my life but this past year had me sitting more than ever due to a job I was working on. I started to feel discomfort in my groin and hip area and it seemed to very much be related to sitting. The hip area and groin area of my left leg are problematic now. When I open my legs in a sitting position and then close them, the left groin or hip is clicking or popping shut rather than gliding shut. It is abrupt and kind of hurts but is just mostly agitating and I know that every time it happens it must be causing damage. I feel that this is a result of sitting. when I sit a lot I feel the most discomfort. Sometimes at night in bed that left hip is extremely uncomfortable when there is any weight on it. When I walk a lot I often feel a twinge in the left groin and discomfort in the left hip area. I feel like it's a tendon or ligament, something is very tight or taught. I have always had some lower back pain and I stretch a lot to keep that from inhibiting me. Stretching has always helped me in the past. Chiropractor found moderate degeneration in second Lombard and suggested that the hip and groin discomfort is nerve related but I feel that it's structural. I have started going to the gym regularly but this discomfort started months before I began going to the gym. Yesterday for the first time it actually hurt just from stepping down on the leg. It feels weak. if I lift that leg straight up from a sitting position there is a lot of discomfort in that area. If I'm stepping up onto something I never step up with my left leg on the floor as the pressure is uncomfortable, if I'm stepping down from something I don't step down onto the left leg for the same reason. it is starting to affect my every move. Was hoping the chiropractor could fix it and tell me what it is but I do feel that it something related to ligaments or tissue. He took x-rays of the hip and saw no degeneration in the joint
