What causes severe abdominal cramps?

I have been having severe cramps in my abdominal area and feels like I need to pass gas but it won’t pass. It kinda feels like contractions but I am not pregnant. The pain comes and goes and when I sit on the toilet I can pass gas but not enough to ease the cramps. Also my rectal kinda hurts like I pushed to hard.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* The severe abdomen cramps indicate underlying intestine colic through various reasons, usually indigestion and intestine motility related problem with or without alterations in gut flora mechanics.
* I recommend to consume plenty of liquids, high fiber diet and get prescription of PPI as omeprazole, pro kinetic agents as itopride and bulk forming laxative as ispaghula husk for best results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I am having a lot of stomach cramps. They started several years ago. The possible (muscle) cramps come and go in different spots around the gut I ve developed from being sedentary over the last few years. They have become more frequent and more painful over the last few months. What do you think it might be?

I woke up this morning feeling fine, but within about 10-20 minutes, I was struck with very severe lower abdominal cramps on the right side of my body, though the pain was felt more at the back and not the front. I ignored it, but it persisted. It began at about 9:45 AM, and it is now 2 PM. If I stand up straight or walk, the cramping pain is agonizing, nearly taking my breath away. The only way to dull the pain is to sit down and slouch forward, or bend over when standing. Laying down makes it nearly disappear, but if I move, the pain returns. This is the time when my menstrual cycle is starting, so im not sure if its cramps from that, or perhaps from something I ve eaten. I try to ignore it, but its persistence has me slightly concerned.

I am a 33 year old white female. I had my tubes clamped 3 years ago. I am have severe lower right abdominal pain. It has been going on for 24 hours and seems to be getting worse. It hurts to stand or lay on my right side. Getting up from the setting position is horrible. Just wondered wht it could be related to. I tried looking up several different things but most referred to ectopic preg. But the signs all say missed period or bleeding but I just had my last period on the 16th of April.
