What Causes Redness In The Eyes?

For the Last few weeks my left eye has been red upon awakening, occasionally the right eye is a little red as well. There seems to be a little bit of tearing in the left I occasionally. My left cheek was slightly puffy early this week. I had chills and felt like there was something infected. I took five days of amoxicillin. I do not have chills any longer. I have had no temperature. I have had over the last five years significant dental work on my left upper side and it is time to put permanent bridge in. I went to my dentist this week who sent me to an endodontist to rule out any infection in the roots of my upper teeth on the left side. The endodontist did not see anything. I am wondering if could be dental work effecting my sinuses as I have really long roots. Of allergies. I take Zyrtec once at night.
