Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently went to the hair salon and was wearing a low cut shirt at the back, I had my hair dyed and I think I got a rash from the cape they put around your neck it was rubbing against my back as I was moving back and forth to the wash station and pressing it against myself as I was sitting. A couple days later I noticed a bumpy rash on the same spot my shirt has an opening exposing my skin. Any help on what this could be would be helpful.. It is red, and feels hot and sore... I am worried because in this area where the salon is located has been an outbreak of measles. Not sure if it could be transmitted through the drape they at the salon?
Measles does causes a rash but would have other systemic symptoms such as fever, fatigue, cough, sore throat.
The cape likely irritated the area and it may be infected as well. You can consider using a topical antibiotic such as fucidin/bactroban/neosporin along with a oral anti inflammatory medication such as naproxen, cataflam or ibuprofen.
If there is no response or worsening then you may need oral antibiotics.
I hope this helps
