Hi. My daughter s pupils are not the same size - one is larger than the other. She had her vision tested (Eye exam) and the Dr indicated there was nothing wrong with her eyes. She had an open MRI, and the results for normal. What would the next steps be for identifying why her pupils are 2 different sizes and if it is a medical condition that needs to be addressed?
1 in 5 persons has different size of the pupils. it might be normal. Anyway you should check.
Sometimes, though, having uneven pupil size can be a symptom of a serious problem. People who may get anisocoria may have:
a nervous system problem a history of damage to the eye risk of having a stroke a viral infection Adie’s tonic pupil (when one pupil does not respond to light as well as the other pupil).
if none of the above is present, than don't worry.
