Hello,

Excessive amount of phlegm formation can be due to allergy, infection, inflammation, exposure to smoke, due to consumption of certain food or dairy products. It can be indicative of asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer or congenital heart disease.

Visit ER, get physically examined, get all the investigations like sputum test, CBC, Urinalysis, X-rays, Imaging tests, Lipid Function tests, ECG, Echocardiography, done etc. Get evaluated & treated at the earliest. In the meantime, stay away from anxiety, stress & addictions if any.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
