What Causes Persistent Headaches?

I have headaches most of the day every day. Right sided from right under my skull on my neck up to the center of the top of my head. Don t know what s causing it and so far none of the medicine prescribed has helped. Recently found a pituitary tumor and had it removed hoping it would help. It has some but not enough. Also it feels like a dent has formed in the back of my head where the most pain is. Any idea on what s going on and what I should do now?

Hello dear,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have made the following clinical explanation-
Headache prominence in the areas you have described(base of skull, neck, head),is typical for 'Tension type headache'(TTH).Severe headache at the back of head(like a dent like feeling at the back of your head) is extremely classical for TTH. Its good that you have got pituitary tumor removed, but it is not necessary for a pituitary tumor to be associated with headache.A small pituitary tumor may be asymptomatic. So,symptoms of pituitary tumor depends on the size. Please start doing mental relaxation exercises/Yoga/Pranayama and your headache should improve. If it still persists, please discuss a physician to start you on low dose amitriptyline. That will definitely of help.I hope it helps.
