What Causes Painful Intercourse And Low Libido?

I am a 64 year old female. I have not had sex more than 3-4 times in the last 5 years. I am married (obviously to a saint) because I have no desire. The last time we tried, it hurt/burned so badly, I was really shaken up. Have tried to talk to my doc about the lack of desire, but she was not interested in hearing it. Not sure what i should do. I have had a complete hysterectomy, not over weight, healthy, etc.

Hello,

You may need to consider speaking to another doctor or speaking to your gynecologist. Hormonal changes after menopause are the reasons for these symptoms.

The burning would be due to the vaginal dryness. Using a water based lubricant would be helpful to ease this symptom example such as, k y or astroglide.

To help with the low libido:
(1) Regular exercise
(2) Spending time together doing activities would help to improve intimacy
(3) Hormone replacement
(4) Enhance intimacy by changing sexual routine or stimulation example adding massage et cetera

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
