What Causes Pain On The Left Side Of The Knees?

Hello I am 71 years old and am having a troublesome knee. I felt like there was some movement in the knee, didn t experience much discomfort then while walking, but know I have pain on the left side of the knee. When I wear a support it seems to bother my circulation. The knee is usually OK after sleeping at night but gets sore as the day wears on.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It sounds like you may have a problem with the ilio-tibial band or a knee ligament. A doctor should be able to diagnose the problem with an exam. Physical therapy will likely be the treatment, once the cause is known.
