What Causes Pain In Eyes While Reading?

My eyes get to hurting if I read too much, or on the computer more than an hour; jigsaw puzzles. Sometimes they react to certain lighting. Occasionally at night there are halos around lights. My left eye seems to cloud over like with a haze. The halos and the haze are transitory..not there all the time. Laying down for a while and closing my eyes sometimes helps. I have had my eyes checked medically 6 months ago and they said they looked fine. This is frustrating! What causes this and what is the cure! I think it is worse than it was a long time ago. I do wear glasses. One eye is worse than the other.
