Hello Doc, I am 22 yrs old. For a long time now, I often oversleep or shift sleep cycles involuntarily. Shift in sleep cycles can be explained with my late night studying, but how about sleeping for more than 8 hrs(I oversleep if no external factor disturbs me)? It is normal?
Hi, A human being's normal sleep duration usually ranges from 4-9 hours. Some people are by habit long sleepers who need to sleep slightly more than average to refresh themselves. Similarly, some people sleep less than average and still feel completely fresh. So, in case you are not having any other problems, I don't think the sleep duration is something you should worry about. However, frequently changing sleep hours should be avoided. Try to fix your sleeping and waking up time. You can also start doing some exercise in the morning. Proper sleep and exercise will help you maintain your health. Best wushes.
