Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am extremely heavy for my size why is that? People tell me that I look like I am 180lbs. Nope turns out I m 240lbs, I am only 5 11, I don t have a huge belly or look very flabby, people I know who are my weight tend to be on the bigger side, but I am the black sheep. Can you find out why I am so heavy?
Hello there, What you would have is big bones. See The physical appearance of bulk is due to 2 things-muscle and fat. But the densest tissue in the body is the bone(teeth too but they are relatively constant size in everyone). In certain races-African, Scandinavian the bones are heavier so even though the person looks lean he is actually packing a lot of weight. It is nothing 'black sheepish' . In my opinion you have a genetic advantage. As you age your bones would be strong compared to the rest of us and hence you will not be susceptible to bone loss .
Thank you for your query, Dr Arun A
