What Causes Headaches And Nausea While On Rosuvastatin?

I have been on Crestor 20mg since 2008 with great results and very little side effect. Two weeks ago I was required by my insurance company to use the generic Rosuvastatin Calcium 20mg. Earlier this week I started having, never before daily headaches, nausea, constipation and feeling just plain lousy. Is it possible the change from name brand Crestor to the generic could be the culprit? I Amin good health and a very active 70 year old. Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Changing to generic molecule does not necessarily create side effects. But if there are some formulation changes at a chemical level, then that may lead to such effects.

It is advisable to stop its consumption at present and follow the recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
