What Causes Formation Of Pus In The Gums?

I am having to take antibiotics for a cracked molar that happened last week. I have just started a course of antibiotics tonight for next 7 days. Tonight, I pressed the gum as it was badly swollen, and a lot of green and yellow puss came out. On the second press of the gum, there was a lot of blood. I have been told that I need to wait till I finish the antibiotics before going to get it extracted. I'm worried about the puss and blood... What do I do ?

Hello ,

Thanks for consulting HCM,

Read your query, as you have fractured molar tooth with swollen gum is due to spread of infection in periapical and perioodontal region of tooth causing Periapical or Periodontal Abscess , dont worry this blood is coming due to infection and pus formation is there in fractured tooth.
I will suggest you to take proper course of antibiotics prescribed by your doctor and after medication go for treatment removal of tooth , in meantime you can do warm saline rinses two - three times a day.

Hope it will help you.
Wishing you good health.

Regards,

Thanks for using Health Care Magic.

Read your query.

The signs and symptoms you have mentioned suggests periapical abscess and there is drainage of this pus and blood exudate from the gingiva.

I would suggest you to visit the dentist as you are already on antibiotic coverage and get the tooth extracted at the earliest.

Do salt water gargling.Do not apply hot bag externally on the face.

Following the extraction ,you can continue with antibiotics and pain killers prescribed.

Hope this was useful.
Thanks and regards.
