What Causes Dryness And Itching In The Eyelid?

My right eyelid has been dry, itchy, crusty with flaking x years...gotten worse lately and today is very red and irritaged. I'm 58 year old female. I had some great steroid type prescription med that I just recently lost -- it helped minimize the outbreaks...elidel was prescribed last year but I didnt fill the RX as I had the other med. Is there a great OTC med I can get for this...I pulled up something online and they talked about Tinactin anti-fungal cream. THANK YOU!!!

Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

I reviewed your history. The symptoms of dryness and itching in eyelids indicate probable blepharitis.
The treatment for this condition is by use of antibiotic eye ointment, anti allergic drugs.
Use of lid scrubs provides symptomatic relief.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
