Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 62. I ve started to get dry mouth but only when I sleep. I wake up after 4 hours and start salivating withing a minute. I go back to sleep and get dry mouth again. This doesn t happen during the day. I ve been on a cpap machine for 14 years. I stopped 7pm medications as a test but still get it. I can drink 32 ounces of water between 8-10pm but it still happens every night. Why only when I sleep but never the rest of the time even if I don t drink anything for 4-5 hours?
Hello, it sounds like your salivary glands are not working properly. Try a product called biotene. It is an artificial saliva and dry mouth moistener. Use it at bedtime and keep it at the bedside to use if you wake up with a dry mouth. Regards
