What Causes Dry Mouth Along With Visual Hallucinations And Shortness Of Breath?

hi Dr.
a few nights ago I developed strange unexplainable symptoms at bedtime. I began having a very dry mouth and started drinking water heavily, I also developed visual hallucinations and shortness of breath with rapid pulse. and I felt like I was in a sauna but not sweating. it only happened the one night and lasted two to three hours but I woke up all through the night. well last night the exact same thing happened to my husband. Do you have any idea whats going on? we don't have any mental health diagnoses don't use drugs and drink socially.

Hi,

It may be due to low humidity with a high temperature in the room or due to viral pharyngitis with sinusitis or drugs like antihistamine or antidepressants or anticholinergic drugs etc.

So use artificial eye drops, use a humidifier in the room and drink plenty of liquids.

Check for upper respiratory tract infection or acid reflux.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu,
